One dead in overnight shooting at Garland apartment complex, police say

Upon arriving at the scene, police said they determined that one person was killed and multiple parties injured in a disturbance in the complex's parking lot.

GARLAND, Texas — Police in Garland are investigating a shooting altercation that left one dead early Saturday morning.

According to the Garland Police Department, officers responded to an apartment complex in the 4200 block of Duck Creek Drive at about 2:30 a.m. after receiving calls about a weapons disturbance.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found one victim, later identified as Marquicha Mingo, 31, of Dallas, dead of gunfire and discovered that at least two other people were shot in a disturbance in the complex's parking lot. The Garland Fire Department transported one shooting victim to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said. Officials added that they discovered another victim was transported to a local hospital from the scene via other, private means.

Garland PD says its detectives are continuing to gather evidence, determine what happened and identify the parties involved in the incident as part of what the department calls an active investigation.
