FWPD: Two men impersonating police pulled man over, robbed him

Police say the men activated an emergency light to initiate a bogus traffic stop.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth police say a man was pulled over by two other men who were impersonating cops Friday afternoon.

It happened in the 6000 block of Brentwood Stair Road, on the east side of the city, around 12:45 p.m.

Police were investigating for hours at the apartment complex where the victim was pulled over by the two impersonators.

The victim told police the men activated an emergency light to initiate a traffic stop. When the victim pulled over, the men identified themselves as police, and police say they then robbed the man of a large amount of money. The initial dispatch report said it was many thousands of dollars.

The victim did not want to speak with WFAA about the ordeal; he still had a zip-tie on one of his wrists when we arrived at the scene.

Police did not give a description of the suspects but say they were driving a newer white SUV and it did not have police markings on it. Based on the report, it did have an emergency light on it.

If someone is pulling you over and it seems unusual, call 911.
