Man arrested after shooting brother in Fort Worth, leading police on chase with kids in vehicle, police say

Police say the suspect fled with his two children after shooting the victim in his lower torso.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A man is in custody after he reportedly shot his brother on Sunday, the Fort Worth Police Department said.

At about 10:10 a.m. Sunday, police were called about the shooting near the 400 block of Millbrook Lane.

Upon arrival, police said they found the victim with at least one gunshot wound in his lower torso. He was given medical care, but his condition is not clear at this time.

Police said they then became aware that the victim and the suspect are brothers.

Police said they also learned the suspect, Zjvon Packer, had fled the scene in a vehicle with his two small children before officers got there.

After putting out a broadcast of the suspect's description, police said a patrol sergeant found the suspect vehicle in South Fort Worth near FM 1187, and a pursuit ensued.

After failing to yield to officers, police said Packer eventually pulled into a church in the city of Burleson, where he was arrested.

The two children were returned to family members safe, police said.

Packer was charged with evading arrest/detention with a vehicle and aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury - family violence -- both felonies.
