Deep Ellum venue shooting leaves one critically injured, Dallas police say

No suspect has been arrested at this time.

DALLAS — Dallas police are investigating a shooting outside of a Deep Ellum restaurant and music venue that sent a person to a hospital Sunday night.

Police told WFAA that officers responded to a call at 10:54 p.m. at The Free Man in the 2600 block of Commerce Street. One person was injured in the shooting, and police said they were in critical condition.

In a Facebook post, The Free Man's owner and operator John Jay Myers said the shooting was the result of an altercation between two people on the street out in front of the venue. As things escalated between those parties, guns were pulled and fired, and a stray bullet entered the building, striking an employee, Myers said.

The employee was then transferred to a local hospital for surgery and treatment for his wound.

No arrests have been made. On Wednesday, Feb. 15, the Dallas Police Department released surveillance video asking for the public's help in identifying possible persons of interest in the case. Click here to watch.
