25-year-old killed in Dallas shooting; 21-year-old arrested, police say

A grand jury Jan. 11 declined to indict Juan Martinez on a murder complaint in connection with the shooting on Hartsdale Drive.

DALLAS — A 21-year-old has been arrested in a shooting that killed one man and injured another early Monday morning, according to Dallas police.

In a news release, police said the shooting was reported at 1:15 a.m. in the 1300 block of Hartdale Drive near Westmoreland Road.

When officers arrived, they said they found two men shot outside of the home. Both victims were taken to a hospital. 

One of the victims, identified as 25-year-old Louis Martinez, died from his injuries.

The second victim, who police identified as a 48-year-old man, is expected to recover. His name was not released.

A grand jury Jan. 11 declined to indict Juan Martinez, 21, on a murder complaint in connection with the shooting, but did indict him on a complaint of aggravated assault. 

No more information has been released.
