1 shot near car rental area outside Dallas Love Field airport, sources say

Officers were responding to a shooting call in the 6800 block of Ansley Avenue, on the south end of the airport property.

DALLAS — One person was shot and one person was in custody Friday morning in a shooting that happened near a car rental area outside Dallas Love Field Airport, police and sources told WFAA.

Officers were responding around 9:15 a.m. to a shooting call in the 6800 block of Ansley Avenue, which is located on the airport property.

Officers were investigating the incident in a parking lot area behind an Avis car rental, which is located on the south side of the airport property. Dallas police said when officers arrived, they found a victim shot at the location.

A law enforcement source told WFAA that the shooting stemmed from an argument between two women, and that the victim appeared to have been shot in the back. It was unclear what they were arguing about. Dallas police said a suspect, identified Saturday as 42-year-old Latorya Gray, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Gray's bond was set at $75,000.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, DPD said, and their condition was unknown.

Airport operations were not impacted by the incident, according to Love Field officials.
