18-year-old arrested for roommate's shooting death, Aubrey police say

AUBREY, Texas — Police in Aubrey say an 18-year-old has been arrested in the shooting death of his roommate in the Providence Village area.

According to the department's social post, officers responded to a shooting call at about 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5 on Concord Drive near Main Street and Lexington Drive. 

Police identified the suspect as 18-year-old Austin Fontana and the victim as 22-year-old Nikolai Knud Hannemann. Officials said the two lived at the same residence.

Hannemann was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police said Fontana was arrested at the scene and booked into the Denton County jail on a murder charge. His bond has been set at $1 million. 

The shooting is still under investigation. No other information is available at this time.
