FORT WORTH, Texas — A 3-year-old girl was in critical condition Friday night after she was shot in the head at her home in north Fort Worth, police said.

Officers were dispatched on an injured person call to the 1300 block of Clinton Avenue, where they found the girl with a severe head injury. She was taken to Cook Children's, and police learned that she had been shot.

The girl's mother and father were the only adults home at the time of the incident, police said.

Two other children – two-year-old twins – were also in the home. Child Protective Services had removed the twins from the home, pending the investigation.

Detectives with the Fort Worth's Crimes Against Children Unit were still investigating the shooting Friday night.
