LANCASTER, Calif. — A meal kit company is joining the ranks of companies moving their headquarters from California to Texas.

FreshRealm, which fulfills and produces meals for retailers like Amazon Fresh, Blue Apron, Kroger, and more, announced this week it will move its California-based headquarters to Lancaster.

The company, previously based in San Clemente, California, broke ground on an 88,000-square-foot facility in the 3300 block of N. Dallas Avenue last year. The company says they’re planning to hire for a range of positions, but didn’t specify which roles they’re looking for or how many jobs they’re looking to fill.

“We are thrilled to strengthen FreshRealm's roots in the great state of Texas, where we will continue our focus on transforming the future of the surging meal solutions space. As someone who has raised my family in Texas, I know the rich heritage of hard work and incredible food this state offers, and Lancaster provides an ideal location for expanding our Texas-based workforce. We are especially excited to be doing business in a dynamically growing region that is actively investing in its people and businesses,” said FreshRealm President Snow Le.

The plans for the Lancaster facility were announced in conjunction with its announcement that it had acquired a California and New Jersey facility from Blue Apron.

Earlier this year, FreshRealm also announced it acquired the U.S. operation and supply chain infrastructure of the subscription-based meal kit provider Marley Spoon. That $24 million transaction included the transfer of a Dallas, a New Jersey, and a California production and fulfillment facility from Marley Spoon to FreshRealm.
