Wylie, Texas, took the No. 2 spot on Fortune Well’s 25 Best Places to Live for Families.

Fortune analyzed more than 2,000 cities, towns, suburbs, exurbs and townships between 25,000 and 750,000 residents across the U.S., searching for communities with the right mix of multigenerational needs. The media company compiled over 215,000 data points to determine the criteria across five categories: education, aging resources, general wellness, financial health and livability. Conclusions were intended to show communities that offered access to quality hospitals and doctors, solid public schools, and support for older residents.

Fortune found that Wylie and its population of 56,463 residents could find that multigenerational family-friendly environment in the Collin County suburb due to a handful of key factors.

For instance, in 2022, Wylie Independent School District had a 95% grading, according to GreatSchools. It also scored an “A” rating from the Texas Education Agency.

Offering 70 living arrangements for its older residents, the city scored above-average for senior living facilities, according to Caring.com reviews.

Wylie is also a regular contender among the fastest-growing cities in North Texas. Between 2016 and 2020, Wylie's population grew by 26%, landing it in the No. 14 spot on a Dallas Business Journal List measuring growth rates.

Just outstripping Wylie was Ann Arbor, Michigan, which took the top spot. Sugar Land, located near Houston, was the only other Texas city to make the list, ranking at No. 17.
