Fort Worth boutique finds heartwarming passion through fashion

A lot of people who work out at gyms feel like superheroes. But inside a small gym in Fort Worth, few are pulling as much weight as the two women in back, inside a small clothing boutique.

Angela Williams and Amanda Wear started their online boutique, Cowtown Couture, as a way to share their passion with friends.

That is, until last fall, when everything changed.

“I mean, we never expected that to happen,” Williams said.

“It’s just hard to imagine that this really happened, I guess,” Wear said.

It started when Hurricane Harvey was slamming in to the Texas coast.

Amanda went to college in Houston and still has family there. Both she and Angela were devastated by what was happening and knew they just had to do something.

“We didn’t have a boat,” Wear said. “No one really wanted a meal that I would go down there and cook because I am not a chef. And so this is something we could do and it took off from there.”

What they did was pick one product, sell as much as possible and then donate every penny to hurricane relief.

They did it all at their expense.

But what’s most amazing is that they haven’t stopped.

Amanda and Angela have donated to a different charity every month since. They call it Cowtown Contributes and in total, they have given to more than $9,000 to five organizations.

Keep in mind, this isn’t some big corporation.

Just two stay-at-home moms, with a small business and a desire to make a difference.

“Selling clothes is fun, but seeing the result of that and what has come from that as far as helping others has been really neat,” Wear said.

“It just makes your heart feel good,” Williams said.

Because doing what’s right will never go out of style.
