Ice cream-filled donuts? New Dallas spot offers the sweet concoction

The franchise opened its first North Texas location in December.

DALLAS — If you want to satisfy your sweet tooth? How about some ice cream? Donuts? Ice cream and donuts in one?

At Yonutz, a new ice cream and donut shop in Dallas, smashing donuts and ice cream together has become a viral sensation.

“We take a donut, we cut it in half, we fill it with ice cream,” said Yonutz owner Bilu Warrier Raval.

The Yonutz chain started in Florida a few years ago, but Warrier Raval opened a location in Dallas after hearing about the franchise on TV.

Some of the store’s social media posts, featuring their "smashed donuts"—donuts filled with ice cream and smashed inside a hot iron—have garnered millions of views.

“When you taste that for the first time you go, ‘wow,’” Warrier Raval said.

Warrier Raval and her son operate the Dallas location, the only one in North Texas. Customers can have donuts and ice cream paired together in one of the store’s many signature milkshakes.

Of course, customers can order just ice cream or just donuts, but Warrier Raval says nothing is more popular than smashing them together.

“Who doesn’t like donuts and ice cream,” she said. “It is just perfect when you taste it.”
