'My season ended on a happy note': ABC's Golden Bachelor reflects on show ahead of the finale

“I’ll just tell you this: my season ended on a happy note,” said Turner.

DALLAS — As the first-ever "Golden Bachelor" season comes to an end, Gerry Turner has a lot to look forward to.

“The whole world will know, I’m looking forward to that,” said Turner.

The 72-year-old grandpa from Iowa spoke with WFAA in early November, when he visited Dallas for the National Pickleball Championship.

Turner played against two Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) champions.

He shared a few details about finding his second chance at love following a journey that began with dating 22 women.

“I’ll just tell you this: my season ended on a happy note,” said Turner.

Turner told WFAA he’s currently still in a relationship after the season finale.

“It took me awhile to get to where I thought I knew what I wanted,” said Turner.

Now, he knows, the first-ever Golden Bachelor told WFAA.

He didn’t reveal who gets the final rose, but the show’s trailer might’ve dropped a hint when he embraced Leslie and declared he was falling in love with her.

Leslie is one of two remaining candidates. However, during the season, Turner told three women he loved them.

Turner said he’s most surprised by how emotional he was throughout the season.

“I didn’t really realize that about myself,” Turner said. “It’s like, gosh, I was in those moments and it just got me.”

Turner said the rose ceremonies were the most difficult part of the journey.

During the season, Turner shed tears on several occasions. The emotional moments revealed his sensitive side, which captured Bachelor Nation by storm. Turner said he is humbled by the love and affection loyal fans of the show have expressed toward him.

“I just remind myself I’m still just a dad and a grandpa,” Turner said. “I really don’t wanna lose that.”

The world will learn who he’ll choose to spend the sunset days of his life with when the show’s finale airs on Thursday, Nov. 30.

“The best part about waking up is knowing that I now have someone waiting for me to tell them good morning,” said Turner.
