Does Dallas have the best arts district in the country?

DALLAS — Dallas is known for many things, from the Dallas Cowboys to the State Fair of Texas and Reunion Tower. According to USA Today readers, Dallas also has the best arts districts in the country.

Readers selected the Dallas Arts District as the winner in USA Today’s 10 Best Arts Districts online competition.

A panel including a combination of editors from USA Today and 10Best.com, expert contributors and sources selected 20 nominees and readers selected winners from the 20 nominees for the nation’s top arts districts.

“Dallas Arts District is humbled, honored, and thrilled to be included with such a prestigious group of arts districts in the nation ranking #1. I am especially proud that we represent Texas in the 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. Congratulations to all who were nominated and those who ranked in the top 10, including Arts District Houston,” said Dallas Arts District Executive Director Lily Cabatu Weiss.

The Dallas Arts District in downtown Dallas, the largest urban arts district in the country, is the neighborhood including the Dallas Museum of Art, the Crow Museum of Asian Art, the Nasher Sculpture Center, the Winspear Opera House, Meyerson Symphony Center, Moody Performance Hall, and more.

Here are the top 10 arts districts in the country, as chosen by USA Today readers:

  • Dallas Arts District
  • Knoxville Arts District in Knoxville, Tennessee.
  • Northeast Minneapolis Arts District in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
  • University Circle in Cleveland, Ohio.
  • Historic Third Ward in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
  • Tulsa Arts District in Tulsa, Okla.
  • Arts District Houston in Houston.
  • Richmond Arts District in Richmond, Virginia.
  • Wabash Arts Corridor in Chicago.
  • The Pop District in Pittsburgh.

The competition ran from January 22 to February 19 and winners were officially announced on 10Best Arts Districts on Friday.
