Cynthia Izaguirre is an anchor at WFAA in Dallas, TX, specializing in television news and weekly Wednesday's Child reports.

1) Who are you? Cynthia was raised in Dallas and is a proud product of the Dallas Independent School District. She attended Herbert Marcus Elementary, Longfellow Academy for middle school and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. Cynthia attended The University of North Texas and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism with a double minor in Political Science and Spanish. Go Mean Green!

2) What are your interests? Cynthia is most proud of her work with Wednesday's Child. Since 2011, she has produced and anchored the segments which help find abused and neglected children a safe and loving home.

In 2022, The National Association of Broadcasters presented WFAA with its Service to America Award recognizing the station's ongoing commitment to raising adoption awareness through its 40-years-running Wednesday Child reports. Talk about SPECIAL!

In addition, Cynthia is on the Board of Directors for TexProtects: The Texas Association for the Protection of Children. It has become Cynthia's mission to fight for the most vulnerable children in our communities.

When Cynthia is not working, she is spending time with her family. Cynthia is married to her husband who she affectionately calls Captain Awesome. They also have three children who are equally as awesome! They are the light of her life!

3) What do you like about working at WFAA?  Working at Channel 8 is a dream come true for Cynthia. She grew up watching WFAA and considers it a great honor and privilege to work alongside some of the best journalists in the country. Cynthia is also proud to work for a company that demands excellence. 

She was part of the team that won the 2023 National Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence. This is a tremendous accomplishment that reinforces the value WFAA places on high-quality journalism.

Cynthia's also proud to work for a station that celebrates diversity and encourages authenticity. It takes courage to report on tough stories. Cynthia is proud WFAA encourages bold reporting for the benefit of those we serve.

4) What's one thing people would be surprised to learn about you? You might be surprised to know that Cynthia is obsessed with Danielle Steel audio books. She's listened to way too many of them to count. They've become her magical getaway on the drive to and from work. So, Danielle, if you happen to see this, Cynthia would love to personally thank you for making her commute something she actually looks forward to!
