Say hello to some of the first North Texas babies born in the new year!

Andrea Puga was the first baby born in 2023 at Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South.

BURLESON, Texas — The new year has arrived, and North Texas is already saying hello to some new humans.

Methodist Richardson Medical Center said it welcomed its first baby of 2023 at 5:44 a.m. Sunday.

"Baby Aiden Cabrera couldn't wait for the first sunrise of 2023!" the hospital said in a statement.

The hospital said Aiden weighed a "very healthy" eight pounds and three ounces.

Over on the Tarrant County side, Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South said its first New Year's baby entered the world at 8:07 a.m.

The hospital said baby Andrea Puga came in at seven pounds and 14 ounces.

Baby Andrea will join her parents, Rubi and Jeisson, and her two big sisters at their home in Crowley.

"Every day, every year, it is our honor and privilege for our team to help welcome babies into the world! Having the first baby of the New Year is additionally joyous to an already joyous occasion!" said Rhonda Fuselier, director of women's services at the hospital. "We are so happy for the Rubi and Jeisson and their new baby Andrea. Congratulations and Thank You for trusting us with your healthcare and on your special day!"

The hospital also added that it delivered over 1,350 babies in 2022.
