ARLINGTON – Nearly 50,000 people are expected to pack Globe Life Park Thursday for Opening Day.

It will be the second-to-last season the Rangers play in the stadium before the new Globe Life Field opens across the street.

But with the construction of Globe Life Field and Texas Live!, a new mixed-use entertainment district, come parking headaches for this year's baseball season.

The projects are being built just south of the first base gate, in a former parking area.

"It's going to be a little difficult getting to parking spaces," said Chuck Morgan, executive vice president of ballpark entertainment. "This is the first year we've had two major construction projects going on at the same time."

His best advice is for fans to arrive early in order to get a spot.

AT&T Stadium is also opening Lot 4, and will open more lots for Rangers Opening Day if needed. Rangers season ticket holders, parking passes, cash, and card, will be accepted.

Lot J on Randol Mill Road is directly across from the construction, and you'll have to access the lot a little further east this year, through J2.

Meanwhile, crews at Globe Life Park are putting the finishing touches on the field and the stadium to get ready for the 2018 season.

"It's kind of like Christmas Eve, you've got Christmas morning the next day," said Chuck Morgan. "It's kind of that feeling you get, little butterflies, excitement."

The season opener against the defending champions, the Houston Astros, begins at 2:40 p.m. Thursday. Parking lots open at 9:30 a.m. for tailgating.
