DALLAS, TX—A man wanted in the killing of a Dallas woman and who was a person of interest in a Fort Worth woman's disappearance has been arrested in California, police said.
Brandon Sampson, 31, was wanted for the death of Jacqueline Hughes, whose body was found in Sampson's garage in southern Dallas in January.
The Fort Worth woman, Jasmine Adams, 21, who had been missing since Jan. 1, was found alive and unharmed with Sampson in San Bernadino County just outside of Los Angeles.
Adams’ family members say Sampson was at a home within the county, and that Adams was shortly found safe nearby.
According to Adams’ mother, the 21-year-old abruptly moved out of their Fort Worth home in early January and disappeared with Sampson.
It was not until after the disappearance that Dallas Police announced Sampson was wanted for murder.
Adams arrived safely at DFW International Airport Saturday night and reunited with family.
Her mother, Lora Bacy, told WFAA that she was, “overjoyed and thankful to have her daughter home."
She also thanked everyone who helped search for her daughter.
“Thank you, thank you for helping me find my baby,” she said.
When asked, Adams said that she was doing ok—but did not discuss any other details about Sampson. Right now, police say she faces no charges.
Her family celebrated the news at Highland Hills Baptist Church in Fort Worth earlier in the night.
Many of them there believed that Adams was being held against her will.
Right now, Bacy says her focus now shifts to the Hughes family and their fight for justice—she also says she wants to reconnect with her daughter and heal.
Sampson was being held at the West Valley Detention Center in California, according to online records. It is not known when he will be transported back to Texas.
