Here's a look at what's new in theaters this weekend.
Tomb Raider (Warner Bros.)

Here's a look at what's new in theaters this weekend:

Tomb Raider

"Black Panther" has been number one at the box office for four straight weekends. Will it be five? Not if Lara Croft has anything to say about it! Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander takes over the role in "Tomb Raider," based in the video game. Angelina Jolie created it for film 17 years ago. Croft sets out to find a lost tomb, working from secrets left by her dad, who went missing trying to find it himself.

Dominic West plays the dad. Vikander is one of my favorite actresses, and despite her tiny frame, boy is she fierce! The movie is entertaining but lack the true suspense it means to convey.

Warner Bros. - Rated PG-13

Love, Simon

"Love, Simon " is a coming-of-age coming out movie. Based on the popular Y-A novel, Nick Robinson plays a gay teen who responds to an anonymous e-mail from a closeted classmate. When a friend follows him on the school computer and discovers his secret, the friend blackmails him to try to get a girl. It sounds intense, but it plays out more like a frothy mystery, as Simon tries to track down his maybe-soulmate.

Robinson is charming, so is his supporting cast. It almost feels like a John Hughes movie, but I was left to wonder if teens these days don't deserve more. And they got it with the Oscar-winning "Call Me By Your Name."

20th Century Fox - Rated PG-13

I Can Only Imagine

That's the title of the most the most popular contemporary Christian song ever recorded. So a movie, "I Can Only Imagine," was a no-brainer. It's teaser trailer even got millions of views! Bart Millard, of Greenville, is the lead singer of the band "Mercy Me." His father, played by Dennis Quaid, was terribly abusive. But he seeks and finds redemption in his son's eyes and the eyes of the Lord. Yes, it's a faith-based movie, but gently so.

Broadway actor J. Michael Finley is very accessible in the lead, and if that song isn't already in your head, it will be after the film!

Roadside Attractions/Lionsgate - Rated PG

7 Days in Entebbe

Rosamund Pike and Daniel Bruhl star in "7 Days In Entebbe." I have not seen this one. It's based on the true story of the 1976 hijacking of an Air France flight on its way to Paris from Tel Aviv. The Jewish passengers were held hostage with the demand to release a group of terrorists in Israeli prisons.

I wouldn't want to give away the ending if you don't remember it, but it involves a valiant rescue.

Focus Features - Rated PG-13

The Leisure Seeker

Donald Sutherland and Helen Mirren star in "The Leisure Seeker." A long-married couple takes a road trip to Florida as they come to grips with the husband's dementia. The Leisure Seeker is the name of their camper.

Mirren is an Oscar winner, Sutherland just received an honorary Oscar. The casting itself would seem to be worth checking out the film.

Sony Pictures Classics - Rated R
