Wylie puppy who was stomped on, thrown dies from injuries

Andrew Callaway, 27, was arrested this week for "stomping" and "throwing" the boxer type puppy, named Diesel, causing the puppy to yelp in pain.

The Wylie Police Department says a puppy that was the victim of animal cruelty has died from his injuries.

Andrew Callaway, 27, was arrested last week week for "stomping" and "throwing" the boxer type puppy, named Diesel, causing the puppy to yelp in pain.

Animal Service and Wylie Police obtained a seizure warrant to examine the puppy.

A day after the initial call by witnesses on May 2, the seizure warrant was executed and the puppy was placed at Richardson Animal Shelter.

During Diesel's exam, the veterinarian found several fractures on his back legs and hips, which were characterized as serious bodily injuries.

On May 9 he underwent surgery, but he couldn't be saved.

Callaway was charged with cruelty to non-livestock animal through torture, killing or causing serious bodily injury. He was held at the Collin County Detention Facility before bonding out.
