Two people injured after possible gas leak explosion

Atmos Energy crews are assessing the area near a Dallas home after an overnight gas explosion.

Dallas Fire Rescue was called to the 3700 block of Spring Avenue, near the Fair Park area around 12:47 a.m. Monday morning. This is where they found a small fire in the yard of the home.

Firefighter say the structure itself appeared to have sustained damage from an apparent explosion. There were a total of four people, all adult males, in the structure when the incident occurred.

The two people in the side where the explosion took place suffered unspecified burn injuries. Though they were walking and talking to firefighters when they arrived, they were taken to a local hospital for evaluation of their injuries.

The two in the other side did not suffer any injuries, but the American Red Cross was notified to come out and provide assistance.

Crews from Atmos Energy responded to the scene, shut off the gas and are assessing the location.

Fire officials believe a gas leak inside the house was ignited by electricity, causing the fire.
