Car crashes into Irving Applebee's, officials say

The crash happened at the restaurant in the 1900 block of N. Belt Line Road around 3 p.m., officials say.

IRVING, Texas — Irving police say a car rammed into an Applebee’s restaurant in the 1900 block of N. Belt Line Road Friday afternoon.

Police were called to the scene at about 3 p.m. Friday and say they found the driver of the car going in and out of consciousness and needing medical attention.

The driver of the car was believed to have had a heart attack while driving and was taken to a local hospital, the Irving Fire Department says.

Officials say no one was sitting in the section of the restaurant that the car hit, and no one was injured.

Specialized rescue crews examined the building structure, and officials say there are no concerns for the structure as of Friday afternoon.

WFFA called the restaurant and they confirmed they are still open for business.

This is a developing story. We’ll update this story as additional information becomes available.
