Heavy rain leads to leaking roofs at Dallas ISD's Skyline High School

Several videos and photos of the damage have been posted on social media.

DALLAS — A break in the rain allowed contractors to focus on some much needed roof repairs at Skyline High School.

Dallas Independent School District’s largest campus was inconvenienced by heavy rain over the weekend. School District staff confirmed roof leaks caused flooding on the building’s third floor. Several videos and photos of the damage have been posted on social media.

A Dallas ISD spokesperson says several classrooms have been relocated, this week, due to the flooding and leaking roof. There is ongoing bond construction work happening on the campus. Heavy rains have temporarily delayed progress.

Students said crews continue cleaning the area, and buckets have been placed throughout the third floor hallway. "I feel that since they are being proactive, at least they are doing something about it," a neighbor, Summer Lavender, said.

Skyline High School’s principal sent a message to parents, on Monday, advising them about the weather related issues and inconvenience. Staff says the safety of students in priority.
