Mostly sunny skies for the weekend, but chilly mornings and cool afternoons

This weekend is the last official weekend of winter before astronomical spring starts next Wednesday, March 20.

This weekend is the last official weekend of winter before astronomical spring starts next Wednesday, March 20. Fittingly, it will feel like winter especially in the mornings.

Saturday morning will be a little colder than Sunday morning in all of North Texas. Saturday morning is also the day to watch for some North Texas locations to drop to freezing.

The best chances to hit the freezing point will be western and northern locations of North Texas. Most of the DFW area looks to stay above freezing, but parts of northern DFW (northern Tarrant County, Denton County, and northern Collin County) could see a brief freeze. If you have sensitive vegetation, bring those plants indoors or consider covering them tonight.

The weather is looking just fine for the big Dallas St. Patrick's Day Parade on Greenville on Saturday. It may be a little cool for the start of the parade, but temperatures will warm into the mid to upper 50s through the afternoon. Jackets are a good idea for the start of the parade. No worries about showers or storms. Have fun and stay safe!
