It's March, and DFW was colder than Alaska. Really.

Pilot Point, Alaska, was warmer than Pilot Point, Texas.

On Monday afternoon – March 4, in case you forgot – the temperature at DFW Airport was colder than Alaska, or at least a good chunk of our 49th state.

We only wish we were making that up.

Locales on The Last Frontier such as Juneau (35 degrees), Kodiak (40), Unalaska (43), and Bethel (36) all checked in at warmer than the 30-degree temps recorded at DFW Airport at 3 p.m. Monday.

Which gives us the meteorological rarity of Pilot Point, Alaska (44 degrees), being warmer than Pilot Point, Texas.

The wind chill at DFW made it feel closer to 20 degrees. The winds were expected to die down through the evening, but the wind chill will likely stay around 20, with the possibility of dipping into the teens later Monday night.

The high temperatures are expected to rise into the 40s on Tuesday, and then into the 50s on Wednesday. Later in the week, we could see temperatures near 80 degrees, before a Pacific front comes through and brings showers and storms over the weekend.

But for now, it's cold. Colder than Alaska.

And we're not making that up.
