More Near Record Highs With Less Humid Air Thursday

The humidity returns this weekend with a chance for a few thunderstorms

Not too much has changed with our weather today. The weak front remains over SE Louisiana today. We will have more sunshine, some less humid air this afternoon and coastal showers and storms again. Some of the storms could be strong with gusty winds and heavy rain. High temperatures will be in the mid 90s with the heat index 100-105. Tonight will be mostly clear and a little muggy with lows north in the lower 70s and south in the mid 70s.

The front will lift north on Friday and that will slowly increase the humidity across SE Louisiana. It will be mostly sunny with a few showers and storms mainly along the coast. High temperatures will still be in the mid 90s.

Weekend Outlook: Plenty of hot and more humid weather all weekend. Saturday and Sunday will be partly cloudy with the sea breeze setting off some showers and storms each day. The better day for some rain will be on Sunday. High temperatures will be in the mid 90s.

Eye on the Tropics: We are still watching what is left of Invest 94 (low pressure) located SW of Bermuda. It is poorly organized and battling plenty of dry air as it drifts to the SW. NHC is giving it a low chance to develop into a tropical system. It will remain SW of Bermuda for the next few days and it should dissipate by the weekend. This is not a threat to the Gulf of Mexico

There are a number of tropical waves coming off Africa. They will be worth watching as the models are trying to develop a few of them over the next few weeks. It is that time of year, the Cabo Verde Season, where we look for storm to develop near the Cabo Verde Islands and track to the west.

Elsewhere...the rest of the tropics are quiet.
