A white Christmas in Dallas-Fort Worth? Not likely here, or for much of the country

In fact, most places across the country might not have a white Christmas this year, even those that traditionally do get some frosting on their front lawns.

We all dream of a White Christmas. In our minds, that means beautiful, white snow blanketing the lawns and rooftops, kids frolicking in the fields of fresh powder, and a very serene night to enjoy opening presents.

But those that are traveling for the holidays KNOW what the reality of all the snow really means. Airline delays, dangerous driving and irritation.

So this may come as welcome news to those making their way near or far this season. The winter weather around the country this year will be anything but wintry!

As we look ahead to travel this week, things are looking GREAT for much of the country to get to your holiday destinations.

Temperatures across a majority of the lower 48 states will be well above normal and the weather will be quaint.

This remains the case all the way through the day after Christmas.

The weather pattern turns a little more unsettled the weekend after Christmas. This means travel back home for some of you could be delayed.

You’ll see widespread showers and storms possible across Texas and the plains Friday into Saturday.

This will also bring parts of the upper Midwest some snow, but not enough to create major headaches.

After all my years as a meteorologist, I’ve seen MUCH worse weather for travel this time of the year. This Christmas is truly a treat. Overall, I doubt we’ll hear many complaints about travel delays this year.

With that in mind, hopefully it makes for a headache-free holiday season. Enjoy!
