DFW weather: Storms return late this week, nice weekend ahead

The weather has turned quiet for now, but thunderstorm chances return by the end of the week.

DALLAS — There are some rain chances to be aware of this week in North Texas. Here's a look at what to expect.

Headlines:

  • Low rain chance for northwestern North Texas Thursday
  • Scattered storms with a severe threat Friday
  • Cooler and less humid weather for the weekend

Thursday

Most of North Texas will be quiet, but there is a chance for a few showers or storms across northern and western North Texas.

Chances for rain in and around DFW look low at this point.

DFW and the surrounding area will have another Ozone Action Day on Thursday.

You'll notice it feeling a little muggier on Thursday, but still should be a nice day with highs in the upper 80s.

Friday storm chances

Another cold front arrives Friday. Widespread rain is not expected, a round of thunderstorms is possible during the afternoon into evening hours.

Exact timing and placement of thunderstorms is not completely set in stone as it will depend on where a front or an outflow boundary sets up during the afternoon.

Scattered thunderstorms will be possible and some could become severe with a threat for hail up to the size of quarters and damaging wind gusts.

Be sure to keep checking back in as more data is available as we get closer.

Nice Weekend

The cold front brining storm chances on Friday will also bring cooler weekend temps and lower humidity. A treat as we approach the summer months!
