DFW weather: Severe storms over, but more storms on the way Thursday

Downburst winds are the main concern.

A few severe storms developed with the heat of the day and they were intense. Our main concern with any thunderstorms that develop this evening will be downburst winds up to 70 mph. Here's where the storms were just after 5 p.m.

These types of storms don't have much that support them. Once they blowup, they don't have long to live before they start to collapse. That collapse can cause some serious winds. More isolated storms will pop before the sun sets this evening, so stay weather aware.

THURSDAY:
Another round of isolated storms, some strong, are possible Thursday afternoon. The coverage of storms will only be about 20%. Beyond that, we'll have to watch what could become tropical storm Barry. Depending on the track, it could bring us rain and storms Sunday and Monday.
