DALLAS COUNTY, Texas — Updated at 4:00 p.m. after DPD clarified there was no fatality.

Lanes reopened on east and westbound Interstate 635 following a rollover accident early Friday morning. Traffic was still slow through the area as the evening rush hour got underway.

Dallas police had previously said the accident was fatal, but later clarified the victim suffered severe injuries but was expected to recover.

An 18-wheeler had reportedly rolled onto its side around 10 a.m. at that intersection, a spokesperson with Dallas Fire-Rescue told WFAA. One person was taken to the hospital, the spokesperson said.

Lanes on I-635 Southbound near Gross Road had reopened as of 9:30 a.m., according to the Texas Department of Transportation, after a major accident shut them down during the morning rush hour.

The highway had been completely shut down as of 8:25 a.m. at Gross Road.

Brief periods of heavy rain Friday morning caused messy conditions as commuters headed into work on slick roads.

Loop 12 South at Highway 114 was also experiencing some slowdowns due to the express lane and another lane being blocked due to a stalled semi stuck in the express lane.

There were a number of smaller incidents on the roadways Friday morning as well that were slowing down traffic.

Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport was experiencing departure delays of an average of 27 minutes as of 8:30 a.m. Dallas Love Field had average arrival delays of 30 minutes for airborne aircraft.

This is a developing story. WFAA will continue to update it as we receive more information.
