Welp. Amazon’s site appears to go down on Prime Day

The Prime Day portion of Amazon's site appeared to be a never-ending loop that routed back to the same quasi-home page.

We’ll take “Unfortunate Timing for Tech Giant” for $400, Alex.

We’d ask Alexa, but we had a hard time getting it at a discounted price*. At the start of Prime Day Monday afternoon, Amazon’s banner day, the site appeared to be down.

The Prime Day portion of Amazon’s site appeared to be a never-ending loop that routed back to the same quasi-home page. That was the case at WFAA and for several tech reporters and everyday Twitter users.

Fortunately, the technology behemoth knows how to handle a webpage error: With pictures of cute dogs.

By around 4 p.m. Central Time, most of the Prime Day features appeared to be working properly. Direct links to sales were not affected during the site crash.

Twitter user @ainnebainne2009 appeared to have a solution to the problem. On the left side of the search bar, switch the results filter from “all” to “Prime Day.” Note: Results may vary. We verified this workaround on the second try.

Here’s to hoping the massive internet company officially figured out how to make their internet site function properly for the world to have unfettered access to their biggest sale.

*We're not really shopping for Alexa products. Just suckers for a topical pun.
