Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller was honored Saturday in DeSoto, where Miller played high school football.

The Von Miller Day celebration at Eagle Stadium included presentations by DeSoto Mayor Carl Sherman, Senator Royce West, Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson and DeSoto ISD along with performances by the DHS JROTC, Fighting Eagle Band and Eaglettes Drill Team.

Von Miller also addressed his hometown fans.

"I've been doing a lot of stuff since we won the Super Bowl; this has to be the highlight of everything," he said.

"This is where it started for me ... I'm a Texan through and through, and this is the foundation of it all," Miller added. "It hasn't always been great for me, you know; it's been up, down, up, down... I just want to connect with all the young guys out there. Keep God first, take it one day at a time, and it'll happen for you, too!"
