Johnathan Motley led all scorers in the Dallas Mavericks’ first NBA Summer League win of 2018 – an 81-78 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.
A 7-0 run in the last five minutes of play propelled the Mavs’ to the win, two days after Dallas lost its summer league opener to the Phoenix Suns.
Motley, a member of the Mavs on a two-way contract with Dallas’ G-League affiliate the Texas Legends, accounted for almost one-quarter of the Mavs’ points Sunday evening with 20.
“Going into the tournament, you need some wins,” he said after the game. “[You need to] get some good chemistry, some good momentum going into the tournament.”
Dallas plays another game Monday night against Golden State before tournament play begins. After the three-game schedule, all 30 teams will move into a knockout-style tournament bracket that wraps up on July 17.
