WFAA-TV and The North Texas Buick Dealers are proud to offer a unique program that recognizes outstanding high school athletes in our area. The North Texas Buick Dealers Scholar Athlete segment airs during the Sunday Night Sports Special television program, which airs on Sundays at 10:35 p.m. on WFAA. We have a selection process in place that considers a variety of factors when selecting the potential Scholar Athletes:
- Scholastic achievement
- Athletic accomplishments
- Community service and school involvement
We are pleased to announce we have opened the program to both high school seniors and juniors, graduating the spring of 2024 or 2025.
In addition to the above criteria, when selecting your male or female nominees from all sports programs, please know that we encourage diversity among the students in this program. The selection committee chooses athletes from the nominees that best meets the criteria. Also note that applications are accepted and held on file year-round. When a student is chosen, the selection committee will reach out to the parents and student to notify them.

Before you begin the online form, please gather the following information:
Student's Details:
- Full name and address.
- GPA and class rank.
- Varsity sports played, individual honors, and awards.
- School involvement, such as clubs, leadership roles, honors, and awards.
- Academic achievements, including SAT scores, honors, and awards.
- Community involvement, such as organizations, honors, awards, and achievements.
- Future plans, including the desired college, intended major/minor, and any scholarships.
Student's Team Information:
- Honors achieved by the team.
- Names of club teams and any honors received.
Parent's Contact Information:
- Phone number and email address.
- Phone number and email address.
School Information:
- School name, phone number, and address.
- Total number of students enrolled.
- Principal's and coach's names.
