FINAL SCORE: Kennedale 28, Fort Worth Dunbar 13. See highlights in the video player above.
What some projected to be a blowout Thursday night in Fort Worth was far from it. Fort Worth Dunbar hung with reigning state finalist and district 6-4A favorite Kennedale.
Kennedale took less than a minute of the second half to break what had been a 7-7 tie at the half. A fumble recovery deep in Dunbar territory set up a 13-yard Donovan Rubin touchdown run, and the Wildcats didn't look back.
Kennedale didn't surrender another Dunbar point until a Landrwell Butler touchdown with 2:23 to play, and it was a 45-yard Antwone Parker run that put the game on ice shortly thereafter.
