Commentary: Dale Hansen respects right to protest Nike, 'just don't offend me when you do'

"I respect your right to protest Nike's decision to promote Kapernick, but I don't like the way you're protesting that decision."

The reaction to that little riff i had yesterday on Colin Kapernick and his new deal with Nike had the reaction I have pretty much come to expect.

Some of you liked what I had to say...the rest of you were wrong and a caller was wrong about something else too.

Colin Kapernick did opt out of his contract with the 49'ers, but it was simply a formality because the 49'ers had told him they were gonna cut him anyway. And yet that guy says I'm the one full of something. I think we all are.

I respect your right to protest Nike's decision to promote Kapernick, but I don't like the way you're protesting that decision.

You burn your shoes and then put the pictures on Facebook. You need to find another way. Those shoes are made in Asia, in rather deplorable shops, allegedly. And you disrespect their hard work and the commitment they have made.

And Facebook is where I go to be bored by your vacation pictures, to get away...not to see your protest...you need to find another place.

Selling $9 shoes for $187 is hard work. Work that most of us would never do. I support your right to protest Nike if you want -- just don't offend me when you do.

I'm Dale Hansen...enjoy your day.
