FORT WORTH, Texas — Authorities are investigating after a sleeping teenager was kidnapped outside of a Quik Trip gas station in Fort Worth.
Police say just after 3 a.m. Wednesday morning, a mom pulled into the gas station at Basswood and I-35W and left the car running as she went inside.
Her 13-year-old daughter was sleeping in the back seat when a man got inside the car and drove off, with the teen inside.
A few blocks away from the gas station, the man crashed the car and ran off. Police say the teen didn't realize it wasn't her mother driving the car until the car crashed.
According to police, the girl is safe and was not harmed during the brief kidnapping.
