The Social Security Administration has identified and fixed an issue that led to reports over the weekend of people having trouble logging into their "My Social Security" online accounts.

An SSA spokesman said in a statement on Monday there were "intermittent issues" with some of its online services this weekend, the cause of which was determined to be a "file configuration issue."

The spokesman said online services are once again fully operational.

People in states across the country had reported issues with the SSA.gov website starting early Sunday morning, according to the website Downdetector. Issues were reported on Saturday as well, according to the site.

Many of the people posting online said they had been experiencing issues with the website for multiple days, since Saturday, saying the error message told them the site could not be reached.

On Twitter, user "Christine Aiello" wrote that the SSA website was "up and running as a whole, but its Sign In link is broken, thus no access."

While some noted their direct deposit benefits were listed as "pending" on their bank accounts, the SSA spokesperson stressed this had nothing to do with the agency's system issues.

"It is common for benefits payable on the 1st of the month to show pending on the 30th and 31st and even on the morning of the 1st. It is up to the bank to make the funds available on the 1st, when due," the SSA spokesman said.
