FORT WORTH, Texas — A woman was attacked on a trail in Fort Worth around 7:30 Saturday morning by a man who attacked her from behind, knocked her to the ground and told her to stay quiet, Fort Worth Police said.

The woman, 55, screamed repeatedly and fought with the man, who hit her several times on the ground and threatened her with more violence if she didn't stay quiet, according to police.

A witness heard her screams and ran over to help her, and police said that's when the man ran away.

The incident happened at 5200 Ten Mile Bridge Road near the Marine Creek Reservoir. The suspect is described as a black man in his late teens or early 20s, wearing a blue hooded shirt and weighing around 140 pounds and standing about 5-foot-7-inches tall.

The assault is under investigation by Fort Worth Police and its sex crimes unit.
