Man arrested for protesting Santa in Cleburne

CLEBURNE — Santa Claus normally travels with a group of reindeer, but for Sunday night's Christmas Parade in Cleburne, he'll travel with a security detail.

That's because Saturday morning, the church where jolly old Saint Nick was meeting children was accosted by a group of protesters outside of a Breakfast with Santa event at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Cleburne.

According to news release from the Cleburne Police Department, police were called to the church around 10 a.m. for a trespassing complaint.

Officers found three people protesting the event. They were repeatedly asked by a church representative to leave. One of the protesters, Aaron Urbanski, 31, of Joshua, refused to leave and continued protesting. Urbanski was arrested for criminal trespassing and booked into the Johnson County Law Enforcement Center. No bond was immediately set.

Cleburne mayor Scott Cain posted about the arrest Saturday afternoon on his offical Facebook, writing:

"Don’t Mess With Santa! While I understand folks [sic] right to protest, Cleburne loves Santa and those protestors who were naughty and broke the law when they trespassed were arrested promptly. Guess they wanted coal in their stockings to go with a court appearance."

Cain also wrote about the incident on his personal Facebook page.
