9-year-old girl says man tried to kidnap her near Arlington bus stop, police say

The incident happened about 3:40 p.m. in the 5200 block of Glen Meadow Drive in southwest Arlington, police said in a news release.

Police are investigating a report of an attempted kidnapping in Arlington involving a 9-year-old girl who had just gotten off a school bus Tuesday afternoon.

The incident happened about 3:40 p.m. in the 5200 block of Glen Meadow Drive in southwest Arlington, police said in a news release.

The girl, a student at RF Patterson Elementary School in the Kennedale school district, had been dropped off at her bus stop and was walking toward her home. She reported that a man wearing dark clothing "made some comments to her" and then walked behind her and grabbed her, the news release said.

The girl broke free from the man and ran home.

Police said the suspect was described as a Hispanic man about 30 years old, five feet eight inches to five feet 10 inches tall and about 160-170 pounds. Investigators were working on a composite sketch of the suspect Wednesday afternoon.
