DALLAS -- Southwest Airlines is coming to the rescue and offering to fly Euless police officers to New York for the burial of their fallen comrade.

Officer David Hofer was killed in an ambush shooting at a Euless park on Tuesday. He will be remembered in a "Celebration of Life" event Saturday at Pennington Field in Bedford.

Hofer, who served with the New York Police Department before moving to Texas, will be laid to rest back East.

The Dallas-based airline confirmed to News 8 that it will be providing travel for Euless officers to fly to New York for the service.
