Wednesday's Child: 12-year-old Jarius

Some people in life are gifted with a spirit of positive thinking. We all know who they are because we feel better when we walk away from them.

Some people in life are gifted with a spirit of positive thinking. We all know who they are because we feel better when we walk away from them.

This week's Wednesday's child is that person.

There is a lot of uncertainty in Jarius' life, but that's not what he focuses on.

Sometimes in life, you walk into great opportunities. On our visit this week, Jarius took the first steps to becoming a great guitarist.

“He taught me patience because I was really getting frustrated," Jarius said of learning to play the guitar. "I didn't show it but it's hard. Really hard."

Playing the guitar is not easy and neither is being in foster care. Jarius is 12 and searching for the family who will see his heart and fall in love.

"I want a really good family," Jarius said. "That's like my main goal. To go to a family soon."

Jarius waits with hope and optimism.

"I try not to think about it,” he said.

Instead, Jarius stays positive.

“I think about the good things," he said. "Like maybe some of the good times with my family or something."

Greg Ray taught Jarius the chords to a very special song. It's called One Day by Matisyahu.

"It makes me feel like eventually I'll go somewhere than all these group homes and stuff, that maybe I'll go to a family or something," he said.

Jarius knows one day he will find what he's been waiting and praying for – just like the song says.

"I like the part where it says don't let the negativity bring you down," Jarius said.

Jarius places positive seeds in his mind daily.

"Just want a loving and supportive family," he said. "Nothing big."

Jarius learned a lot more about the guitar while teaching us a big lesson on perspective. His future parents will adopt a grateful son who is aching to give them his heart.

"Respect and a lot of thanks, because I've been in the system a lot," Jarius said, "and it would be nice to actually get out."
