Remember this cutie? This is 10-year-old Chris with his new family. He has a mom, dad, and two younger sisters.

A year and a half ago, I featured Chris on our Wednesday's Child report.

He was 8 years old, smiled a lot and was quite talkative during our interview until I asked him what he wanted from adoptive parents.

He didn't need words for us to understand he was suffering and yearning for a family.

"Do you just want love?" Cynthia asks. Emotional with tears streaming down, Chris nods yes. "You want parents to care for you and protect you?" He nods yes.

"You want to be someone's son?" He nods again. "You want to smile and laugh?" He nods yes.

Chris's parents told me he has adjusted beautifully. He moved out of town, is doing well in school and has made friends.

Chris has started playing basketball and is the world's BEST big brother. He takes good care of his younger sisters.

Today, Chris sent us a message.

Since Wednesday's Child, I've been adopted into a family that really loves me and now I have two little sisters and it's fun being big brother and I've been doing well in school and so things have been pretty well.

Chris, I know you're watching this online. I'm so happy that you're happy.

CPS says there are currently around 16,000 foster children in Texas.

They always need more qualified foster parents. Not everyone can foster, but you can volunteer.
