A man was killed in a hit-and-run wreck early Saturday after he was struck by a car on the side of Interstate 35 in Dallas and thrown into his own vehicle, authorities said.
The wreck happened about 2:50 a.m. between Market Center Boulevard and Medical District Drive, according to detective Raul Reyna, spokesman for the sheriff's department.
The victim, who was driving a Honda, had sideswiped a Jeep that had been in an accident with a Chrysler in the right lane of the highway. He pulled over, then got out and spoke to the other two drivers and took photos of the Jeep, Reyna said.
After taking the photos, he began walking along the left side of the vehicles, back to his car. Another car then struck the man, throwing him into his parked Honda and the Chrysler, Reyna said.
The man died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle that hit him did not stop, Reyna said. Witnesses described the vehicle as a dark-color small car or SUV.
Authorities were still searching for the driver Saturday. The driver's vehicle should have "extensive damage" to the right front fender area and likely didn't go far without breaking down, Reyna said.
Anyone with information about the driver or the crash is asked to call the sheriff's department.
