FORT WORTH -- Police arrested a man in connection with a hit-and-run that seriously injured a Timber Creek High School student.
According to Fort Worth police, Matthew Hunter Wyman, 18, was arrested Monday at Crowley High School.
16-year-old Aaron Lancaster was walking home from a play rehearsal at Timber Creek High School on March 19 when he was hit at about 8:15 p.m. in the 12100 block of Alta Vista Road.
Wyman was booked into the Fort Worth Police Department without further incident.
Lancaster is in the hospital with a head injury, broken leg, broken rib, and a broken elbow. He remains in a coma. A GoFundme page was set up to help.
The intersection has been the site of a number of collisions and many near-misses, according to a Star-Telegram report. The City of Fort Worth even upgraded the crosswalk with signs and flashers about two years ago trying to fix the problem.
According to the city, a traffic study was already in the works following the hit-and-run. Officials will be looking at both traffic volume and speed.
Police said they are working to install a traffic control device, which will help with traffic in that area.
