HURST, Texas — Hurst police have released an image of a suspect who allegedly punched a man with autism in the head McDonald's, with the hopes someone can recognize him.
The incident occurred May 26 at the McDonald's at 1401 W. Pipeline Road, according to Hurst police.
Restaurant surveillance shows the 22-year-old man talking to two children who were standing near the suspect. The suspect and the children later left the restaurant, but the man came back without the children and punched the 22-year-old man in the head "without provocation," knocking him out.
Police said the audio isn't recorded on the video system. It's unclear what was said, but witnesses told police that the suspect "took offense" because the victim spoke to his children.
The victim has autism, the family said, and "was very shaken and scared."
He was taken to the hospital with several injuries that need further treatment, police said.
Police describe the suspect as having a thin build, between 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-11. Anyone with information should contact Detective Brian Charnock at 817-788-7174.
