A fiery crash killed the driver of an SUV around 1:30 a.m. in South Dallas.
Witnesses say the person sped through the intersection of Corinth Street Road and Riverfront, drifted into oncoming lanes and crashed into a bridge pillar.
Police said the late-1990s model Ford Expedition then burst into flames, killing the driver at the scene.
"The driver was deceased at the scene, pinned in the vehicle," police said in a media release.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner responded to the accident, but was unable to identify the victim.
Engineers examined the bridge support to make sure it was stable after the crash.
