Dozens tied to white supremacist gangs arrested in 'staggering' North Texas meth ring

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, in a statement, called the amount of drugs, guns and money seized in the case "staggering."

Kidnapping, selling meth, chopping off a man's finger with a hatchet.

Those were among the allegations laid out in an a lengthy federal indictment unsealed Monday, charging dozens of alleged members of white supremacist gangs in North Texas with drug trafficking.

"This case highlights why these gangs and others are so dangerous and why it's important for the federal government to marshal our resources to prosecute them," Erin Nealy Cox, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, said in a news conference.

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, in a statement, called the amount of drugs, guns and money seized in the case – more than 190 kilograms of meth, 31 guns and about $376,000 in cash – "staggering."

"Today's indictments, arrests, seizures make this country safer," Sessions said.

The indictment alleged that the 57 defendants conspired to distribute 500 grams or more of meth from October 2015 through this April.

The defendants, according to the indictment, were either members of or associated with various white supremacist gangs, including the Aryan Circle, the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas, and the Dirty White Boys, which originated from the name of a prison softball team in the 1980s.

The suspects used stash houses and "brokers" to acquire meth and sell it over the last three years, the indictment said. Some suspects acted as "hubs" for moving the drugs; not all the suspects knew each other, the indictment said.

Earlier this year, four of the suspects – Ralph Jay Adams, Jerry Wayne Lunsford, Justin Mark Nelson and Amanda Marie Gallippo – kidnapped a man after accusing him of stealing drug money from them, the indictment alleged.

The suspects held the man against his will at a home in 600 block of Autumn Leaves Trail in Grand Prairie and pointed a pistol at his head, threatening to kill him, according to investigators. Instead, they chopped off his left index with a finger and knocked him unconscious "with a large wooden object," the indictment said.

Adams and Lunsford – known as "Evil" and "Looney" – decided that Nelson would take the man to another location and kill him, the indictment said, but Nelson eventually let the man go.
