Worker dies after being pulled from trench at construction site

Three men had been working in a trench, about 20 to 30 feet deep, when the line they were working on ruptured.

DALLAS -- One worker has died after being overcome by sewage fumes in a trench construction project in West Dallas, sources confirmed to WFAA. Two others are recovering at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.

The three workers were taken to the hospital after they were found passed out from sewer gases while working at the construction site. Their identities have not been released at this time.

Just after 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Dallas Fire-Rescue crews were called to the intersection of Singleton Boulevard and Sea Harbor Road.

Three men had been working in a trench, about 20 to 30 feet deep, when the line they were working on ruptured.

Firefighters had to perform CPR on one of the victims before they were taken to the hospital.
